Our lawyers believe that the National Football League has for many years ignored, and may have actively withheld medical proof that players were subjecting themselves to long term health problems caused by both concussions and ordinary repetitive head contact. Players were led to believe that helmets provided high levels of protection when even the helmet manufacturers acknowledged that they did not. Despite evidence of significant risks, the NFL failed to provide adequate information to players, the union and refused to alter rules of play that would have made the game safer. In fact, according to the lawsuits being brought the NFL encouraged and promoted the most dangerous contact during play despite massive medical evidence that multiple concussions and other traumatic brain injuries frequently led to long term effects such as mental illness, cognitive and motor impairments, dementia and other significant problems. According to the legal case, the NFL even encouraged players to conceal concussions and to keep playing with head injuries.
